My She Shed Office Having a She Shed is a woman's dream as is having your own business. As a master motivator, goal-getter, and excuse eliminator, I have both. I came to have a She Shed many years ago when I had a property management business. I passed my property management business years ago to my daughter so she could have a home-based business, and be with her young kids. She Shed started to be a normal 10 x 14 shed where we housed tools, lawn equipment, and outside furniture. My husband started to make it an "outside office" when his business was outgrowing the shed and needed a bigger place for his equipment. As my business grew, I needed a dedicated space where I could meet with clients. That's when I got my she shed. After I passed the business to my daughter, I was able to concentrate on my coaching business full time as well as my networking business called Women Empowering Women Now. I then had an opportunity to get a 3200 square foot office with meeting space in a local business building and jumped at it. Even though after spending three years there the office was amazing and helped create new opportunities and meet some wonderful women, I realized that I didn't need so much space or the cost of an office. I decided not to renew my lease and had planned on moving out the end of March which was perfect timing due to the virus. I accumulated many more things during my time at my office which presented some challenges when moving things back to my home which is smaller than half of that office! But I sold some furniture, gave stuff away, and stored some things in my daughter's future she shed. Yes, she has one too but it needs a lot of work so we are using it as storage for the moment. Now that I am back home and working out of my She Shed again, everything just fell back into place for me. My routines are easier, life-balance is easier, I get to be with my animals more and I am so much more productive. Now that could be that we are still dealing with the virus and life has slowed down a bit. But I still have coaching clients, still have projects, and still making money. My she shed is filled with all my business-related equipment, files, books as well as all my creative supplies such as paints, stickers, books, pens, markers, and such. Having a She Shed is my get-away, my private time that I can plan, think, organize, and enjoy life on purpose. Do you have your own She Shed? Do you want to get one? Tell me! I want to hear your thoughts. Have an amazing day! Doreen Are you a women who likes to get creative? Do you like to paint, draw, make lists, rip stuff up? Come join us over at the Junk Journal Club!
